John Ellison Springer
John Ellison Springer, the eldest of Leonard and Dorothy Springer's two boys, was born in 1930 in San Diego, California. After attending a year at San Diego State University, he moved to Illinois to attend Concordia Teachers College in River Forest. There he met Shirley Ann Rudolph. They were married in 1952.
John worked for over twenty years as both a parochial and public elementary school teacher in California, Ohio, and Wisconsin. In 1974, the Springers moved to Wabasso, Minnesota, where John served for ten years as minister of Bethany Lutheran Church. He then worked at Fluidyne Engineering Corporation in Plymouth, Minnesota, for eight years before retiring.
John and Shirley had six children: Michael Alan, Carl Philip Emmanuel, Daniel Stephen, Christel Elizabeth, John Christoph, and me.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed traveling, photography, and gardening. In his later years, he developed dementia and was in a nursing home for several years until his death in 2010.
